What have you learned from your audience feedback?
After finishing our video we uploaded a rough cut of it to Facebook, enabling us to gain feedback and make further improvements for our final version. By posting this version on a social media site it allowed it to get some exposure to a wider audience, some of which are outside our target audience (16-23). By sharing the video we was able to access audience feedback, showing us what the audience wasn't too keen on and helping with any improvements we needed to make. Valuing our target audience and those outside of this bracket equally it was interesting to see that they had the same opinions and taste. Our target audience included males and females due to feeling that our chosen artist, Lana Del Rey appealed to both genders. To reinforce this we asked some male friends for their opinion on our chosen artist and many said they were fans of her and her music. Also, Lana is an attractive lady and has a large amount of sex appeal amongst the male audience. Stereotypically females may be more inclined to relate to Lana's lyrics about love and heartbreak, a reason why females are also our target audience. Another reason being that she is a solo female artist- therefore it is natural that females will want to watch and listen to her.The public that were over the age of 23 commented and said our video was 'highly enjoyable', this was seen through our target audience too; this shows that our video appeals to members outside of our age range. As mentioned in a previous blogpost our viewers criticised our original ending. The viewers felt that this ending wasn't of the same standard as the rest of our video, as a group we agreed with this also and it reinforced some of the doubts we were having with it. Due to the feedback we organised another filming day in the studio and made a new ending which was far more successful.
Below is evidence that we took our audience feedback on board:
before feedback
after audience feedback
We felt that making these changes were necessary in order to keep our audience happy and the indoor lighting added a different energy to the overall look of the video as we hadn't shot in a studio setting yet. Also, the studio setting sticks to the typical conventions seen in a majority of current music videos as many of them show indoor and outdoor locations. By sticking to some traditional conventions in places this makes it more familiar and comforting for the audience; however, having a mix of locations can be considered quite unconventional too.
Another comment made was that some of the audience didn't like one of the red ivy shots due to Nova's hair covering her face at one point make it hard to see what she's singing. However, they still liked the concept of the shot but to overcome this problem we replaced the red ivy shot with one of Nova singing on her bed. Using this clip creates continuity as similar clips in the same location are seen else where in the video.
After making the improvements talked about above, as a group we were happy with our final product and that we could now put it on YouTube. By uploading it to YouTube this allows absolutely anyone to view our video and we can take in everyone's opinion regardless if they're in our 16-23 target audience or not- it would be interesting to see if people outside of our age bracket find our video appealing. Uploading our video to YouTube is important as we'll be able to see some male options on it. Due to our media class being only of females it would be nice to gain some male feedback on it as they are also in our target audience.
On the first day we uploaded our video we received 21 views and 4 likes. Fortunately we didn't receive any dislikes; showing that so far our video was a success.
The next thing we did in order to attain more specific feedback was make a survey on Survey Monkey. We wrote this survey in order to address mainly our target audience. Although, it was open to all as we are also interested in people's feedback outside of our target audience.

This is our survey
We were fairly specific with our questions as we wanted straight forward answers. We created a mixture of both open and closed questions to give ourselves detailed statistics, the questions are below.
